Investigations

Allegations of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation—and other misconduct—call for prompt, thorough, impartial investigation. In such circumstances employers are increasingly seeking the expertise of an independent, third-party investigator.

As a workplace investigator Julie has the advantage of having conducted approximately 700 investigations throughout over three decades of experience in diverse work environments. This allows her to quickly grasp an organization’s culture, environment, and personalities, to better blend in and keep a small “footprint” while investigating.

“Relatability” is one of Julie’s strengths. She understands that connection with participants is the foundation of every investigation. She values and cultivates cultural competency. Julie prides herself on her ability to meet each participant where they are as an individual and to skillfully obtain and impartially weigh the information she receives.

Julie understands that the investigation process is about the participants and the workplace, not her. Integrity, civility, and empathy are at the core of Julie's work. The highest praise she has received comes from individuals involved in investigations and their attorneys—both plaintiff and defense—for her thorough yet sensitive approach to difficult material. Julie’s
client feedback provides the proof of her success.

Superb technical skills and knowledge of applicable law and standard practice require continuous learning. Julie is an AWI-CH (Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) Certificate Holder), signifying that she has successfully completed AWI's rigorous training program and testing in workplace investigation standard practice. Julie is a Past Chair for the Training Institute. In addition, Julie continues to give back to the investigator community as a popular instructor for AWI and is a member of AWI’s Institute Committee, which among other things is charged with formulating its ongoing training curriculum.

"Our [decision-makers] were very, very impressed with your thoroughness as well as your ability to convey the facts and conclusions concisely, even though there was an enormous amount of information for you to get through. Thank you...so very much, it was very helpful."

"I found Julie to be incredibly professional, thorough, and fair. More importantly, the witnesses she interviewed, some of whom were senior executives, made the point of telling me how much they appreciated her approach and her interviewing skills. She made many of the witnesses very comfortable as they discussed a difficult matter. It was clear to me and others that her final report was the product of a careful and thoughtful investigation.  I have worked with many investigators in my career and found her to be one of the best I have worked with."
